Trainee Legal Cashier, Skelmersdale, Lancashire

The Cashroom is an outsourced legal cashiering firm and we provide an expert service, managing these monies on behalf of law firms in accordance with the published regulations. We continue to experience significant business growth with our body of clients growing month on month and we want you to help us deliver that growth in terms of servicing clients, identifying and delivering business efficiencies, and creating the capacity for continued success in the future.

The Role

This junior role is a perfect starting point for school or college leavers looking to start their career with a growing company which will offer lots of scope for progression.

For this role, we will be looking for you to have the following:

  • Strong numerical skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work well independently and within a team
  • Strong IT literacy (Excel, Outlook, etc…)
  • A desire to learn quickly and work hard in a fast paced business
  • Grade C/5 (or above) in GCSE Maths and English
  • An interest in pursuing a career in finance/accounting

The following are also desirable, but not necessary:

  • Experience working in a busy office environment
  • A full UK driving licence
  • An aptitude for problem solving
  • Good time management skills
  • A positive, can-do attitude

Successful candidates will undertake the following duties:

  • Posting Client & Office account transactions
  • Daily bank reconciliations
  • Bank payments (BACS & CHAPS) and transfers between accounts
  • Payment of professional disbursements in line with Solicitors Accounts Rules (SARs)
  • Develop knowledge of SARs
  • Assisting with month end processes
  • Liaising with fee earners & support staff

The Role

Our Legal cashiers are the beating heart of the organisation, ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of all our clients. With new clients secured every month, you’ll never have a quiet day as a legal cashier.

For this Graduate Legal Cashier role, we will be looking for you to have the following:

  • Strong numerical skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work well independently and within a team
  • Strong IT literacy (Excel, Outlook, etc…)
  • Studying towards/achieved a good degree in a relevant field (Accounting & Finance, Law, Mathematics, etc…)
  • A desire to learn quickly and work hard in a fast paced business

The following are also desirable:

  • Experience working in a busy office environment
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Experience working with accounting software packages
  • A basic understanding of double-entry book-keeping and ledger based accounting

Successful candidates will undertake the following duties:
